||The EMT refresher course is a 24-hour class designed for EMTs who provide urgent care at an emergency site or in an ambulance during hospital transport. Students enrolled in this class will receive updated training on all necessary emergency medical care skills needed to fulfill duties as an EMT with an ambulance service or other specialized medical service. The EMT Refresher course covers topics such as trauma management, emergency childbirth delivery, pharmacology, oxygen administration, triage and cardiac arrest treatment.
Students will learn through classroom instruction, laboratory practice and demonstration, as well as high-fidelity simulation in the Simulation Center for Interdisciplinary Clinical Education. Instructors are experienced, professional clinicians and educators.
The EMT Refresher course meets the National Registry of EMT’s requirements for recertification at the EMT-Basic or EMT level or additional challenges of the written exam. The EMT Refresher course is approved through the Missouri Bureau of EMS and satisfies the requirement to transition from EMT-Basic to EMT.
